To the north and east is hard granite carved into steep mountains, inlets, and narrow channels by glaciers such as Bute Inlet and Johnstone Strait. Brightfish Charters often fish deep right close to shore in calm water. To the south the land softens, the water and the view are wide. You could have the variety of fishing a different area each day or more over 3 days.

It takes 2 hours to drive from Nanaimo to Campbell River or 3 hours 30 minutes from Victoria via Highway 19. If you have time for a more leisurely drive you may want to take Island Highway which will provide wonderful views of the coastline.
